Turtlenecks are BACK!

I remember I went years avoiding turtlenecks.

One of the main reasons was because I couldn't stand having something around my neck that I can FEEL. It makes me feel like I am always close to chocking...NOT how I want to feel in my clothes. However, I found a thin lightweight turtleneck that does NOT sit against my neck last year. I have to say, other then my denim, it is my MOST worn piece this Winter.

Why?

Because it is great for layering! I can wear tees, dresses, cardigans and blazers over it. I chose black as it was going to give me the most wear in my wardrobe and I love the classic look paired with a fun pant. See, I have boobs (not big, but perfectly curvy) and I also have small hips, so I like to stay more neutral up top and let my legs be the focus with fun pants. 10 Piece Capsule Wardrobe Challenge

This Fall I decided to live with less and decided to hold off buying any new clothes for the month of October. So, to kick this off, I did 10x10 Challenge and invited others to join me. That means I chose 10 items in my wardrobe and I wore them 10 different ways over 10 days.

WHY? (to find out what I learned, keep reading!)

  • I want to challenge myself to live with less and maximize what I already own.
  • I want to spend less. I am not going to buy anything new for one month.
  • I will be more intentional and creative with my clothes.

THE BASIC GUIDELINES

  1. Pick 10 ITEMS from your closet (I am not buying anything new for this challenge)
  2. Style those items into 10 DIFFERENT OUTFITS
  3. Use 10 DAYS to do it
  4. HAVE FUN, don’t stress!

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

Any core closet item you choose counts as a part of your 10 items. For example:

  • Tops
  • Sweaters
  • Pants
  • Dresses
  • Shoes
  • Layering Pieces (blazers, cardigans, vest…)

Keep in mind these are guidelines! If you don’t wear dresses, then...

How Shame Marketing is Influencing Your Body Image.

I was driving in my car to a friend’s last night and an advertisement for a local fitness business came on. Instead of motivating me to use their business, it did the opposite of what I think it was intending to do. It ENRAGED me. Yes, I know, enrage is a strong word. But man, I was fired UP! Especially after my fb live talk with Carolyn Campbell about shifting to be more “Body Positive”. If you haven’t seen it, then I highly recommend it. You can find it here "Your weight is the least interesting thing about you" .

The advert on the radio wasn’t anything different than what we have heard before, but now I hear it with a new understanding and perspective.

And you know what? it is no longer okay. Not that it was ever okay to begin with...but it is no longer okay to believe or accept the BS women are being fed about how we should look and feel about our bodies. Shame based marketing to motivate you is NOT OKAY. Once your eyes have been opened to make...
